Description

Unpublished F. Scott Fitzgerald short story

Highlights of our summer issue include an unpublished F. Scott Fitzgerald short story, an interview with Lisa Gardner and new fiction by Ian Rankin, Charles Todd and T Jefferson Parker.

In a thrilling tale about a rather shady travel agency with “Amazonia” T. Jefferson Parker gives us pause to think before embarking on an exotic vacation. Charles Todd pens a tale about World War I with a tale of betrayal with “The Heroism of Lieutenant Wells.” The talented Ian Rankin crafts a story full of twists and turns with “Meet and Greet.”  Larry Millet who is known to legions of Sherlock Holmes fans has Holmes on the case of “The Opera Thief.” We have an unpublished F. Scott Fitzgerald story on Hollywood idols, lingering fevers, and light-hearted romance.

Lisa Gardner spoke to us about your her latest novels, the state of writing, and how she’s able to craft finely plotted and chilling suspense novels.

(Note: Publishing an F. Scott Fitzgerald was huge highlight, and a big thanks goes to the Library at Princeton, where their finding aids made it possible for The Strand to arrange to have copies of the short story in question sent to our office without having to set off for New Jersey! Such is the state of technology and cataloging today where looking for manuscripts that have never been published is a less tenuous process but no less rewarding.)
