Subscribe to The Strand Magazine for One Year and Receive Our Historic Harry Houdini Issue!
A century after Harry Houdini’s death on Halloween 1926, The Strand Magazine celebrates the legendary escape artist with an extraordinary literary discovery: a previously unpublished manuscript by Houdini himself.
Titled “An Interesting Scrapbook,” this remarkable work, preserved among Houdini’s papers at the Harry Ransom Center, reveals an unexpected side of the world’s most famous magician.
Here is Houdini not as the master escape artist, but as a passionate historian of magic, documenting the fascinating and often forgotten performers who came before him.
Why did Houdini, a prolific author who was famously protective of his professional secrets, never publish this work? Was it simply forgotten, or did he deliberately withhold it from rival magicians?
Now, 100 years after his death, The Strand Magazine presents the manuscript in full for the first time.
