Christie was a successful English detective novelist during the 18th century. She is now widely regarded as one of the most famous mystery novelists of all time, with her books having sold over 100 million copies and translated into more than 100 different languages. Educated by her mother, Christie began work on her first novel as a nurse in World War I. Her debut novel, The Mysterious Affair at Styles, introduced one of her most famous characters, Hercule Poirot. From there, Christie had an amazingly successful career until her death in 1976.
